Born in Rochester, PA, CPT Porter was assigned to 4th BN in 2007 as S-3.
He assumed duties as XO in DEC 2009. He holds a B.A., Mass Communications from Lander University, a M.A., Journalism and a M.Ed., Student Personnel Services from the University of South Carolina. He is currently working toward his Ph.D., Educational Leadership from Clemson University. He has completed the Traffic Control Course, Officer Basic Course, The Raider Course and the Dept. of Homeland Security's Weapons of Mass Destruction Course. He also holds CERT Certification.

COMMAND SERGEANT MAJOR
CSM Robert Suchka

Born in Gary, Indiana, SGM Suchka came to SC via California. A Vietnam veteran, he served in the US Army 13 years, 10 1/2 of which were served overseas, and 8 years in the California Air National Guard. Past assignments include 2nd Armored DIV, 1st Signal BDE, 1st Calvary DIV, 7th Infantry DIV and the 163rd Tactical Fighter Squadron (CANG). He made NCO of the Year in the US Army and is expert marksman qualified. He has completed the Dept. of Homeland Security's Weapons of Mass Destruction Course, the Traffic Control Course and the Sergeant Major course.

S-3, Operations & Training Officer
WO1 Timothy Couch

Born in Greenville, SC, WO1 Couch holds an A.S. degree from Southern Wesleyan University. His past assignments in the 4th BN include squad leader of 2nd Squad, 1st Platoon, A CO. and Administrative Assistant. Among the SCSG courses he has completed are Basic Training, Warrior Leadership Course, Officer Basic Course, Military Police Course, The Raider Course and Traffic Control Course. He also holds CERT Certification. As a SGT, WO1 Couch was awarded the 2007 2nd BDE Soldier of the Year and was the DIV Recruiter of the Year in 2008.

CPT David Owen

Born in Birmingham, AL, CPT Owen joined the SCSG shortly after 9/11. He holds a B.A. in Church Administration, School of Religion, with a minor in History from Bob Jones University. Former assignments in the 4th BN
include Public Relations NCO, Personnel and Administration Officer (S-1), and BN Executive Officer (XO). Among the courses he has completed are Basic Training, Military Police Course, Officer Basic Course, Traffic Control Course, Captain's Career Course and The Raider Course. He has completed the Dept. of Homeland Security's Weapons of Mass Destruction Course and holds CERT Certification.
